“Can’t Help but Wait” is the second single from the Trey Songz album Trey Day. The song is written by Johnta Austin and can currently be heard on his myspace page. On the issue date of October 6, 2007, the single debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 99. American actor Jackie Long (ATL) appears in the video as the abusive boyfriend. “Can’t Help but Wait” is Trey Songz biggest hit today peaking within the Top 20 of the Hot 100 at #14, and is still on the rise on the chart. His highest peaking solo song before Can’t Help but Wait was Gotta Go, peaking at #68. This video was filmed in Jersey City, New Jersey.
Various un-official remixes exist, one that was released has the song over an instrumental of a Soulja Boy song. That remix has appeared on various recent mixtapes. Another remix features rapper Plies, which will be on the soundtrack to Step Up 2 The Streets. A third remix features rap verses from Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, which are from their duet The Next Episode. This remix can be listened to on Music Choice. Also, a reggae remix was made featuring Mr. Vegas.
The official remix with Lil’ Wayne also features re-recorded vocals by Trey over a new instrumental.
Fellow R&B singer Mario used the instrumental to record his cover version of Beyonce‘s song “If,” with gender pronoun modifications.
