“Magnets” is a promotional single from English electronic music duo Disclosure‘s sophomore studio album, Caracal.
The single features recording artist Lorde.
“Bang That” was released as a promotional single on May 1st 2015, however, the song appears on the iTunes deluxe edition of the album instead of the standard edition. On August 14, “Willing and Able“, featuring British recording artist Kwabs was released as the second promotional single after having the lyric video being released on Vevo the previous day. On September 11, “Hourglass“, featuring American soul duo Lion Babe was released as the third promotional single after having the lyric video be released on Vevo a day prior.
The album features a single called “Magnets“, which is a collaboration between Guy Lawrence, Howard Lawrence, and Lorde. Listen below or via Apple Music.
When the collaboration was initially reported, Howard Lawrence told Rolling Stone, “She turned up on her own, no management or bodyguard. That’s the most equal collaboration on the record. You can really hear her sound—she has this sassy yet vulnerable thing.”
Last year, Lorde and Disclosure performed together at the BRIT Awards, where they did a combined version of “Royals” and “White Noise”.
Disclosure have also announced a four-date UK tour, including a two-night run at London’s Alexandra Palace. See the full dates. [via pitchfork]
Speaking with Zane Lowe on Beats 1, Lorde revealed that she’s in the middle of sessions for a new album, the follow-up to 2013’s Pure Heroine. “I think I just hit on the sonic blueprint of it, which is exciting,” she offered. The singer did not offer any details regarding a title or release date.
Lyrics for Disclosure ft. Lorde – ‘Magnets’
[Verse 1]
Never really felt bad about it
As we drank deep from a lie
Cause I felt melting magnets babe
The second I saw you through half-shut eyes[Pre-Chorus]
Smoke and sunset, off Mulholland
He was talking, I was wondering ’bout
You and that girl, she your girlfriend?
Face from heaven, bet the world she don’t know
Pretty girls don’t know the things that I know
Walk my way, I’ll share the things that you want[Chorus]
Uh-oh, dancin’ past the point of no return
Let go, we can free ourselves of all we’ve learned
I love this secret language that we’re speaking
Say it to me, let’s embrace the point of no return
Let’s embrace the point of no return
Let’s embrace the point of no return[Verse 2]
Never really thought we would make it
We be thinking about what could have been
But we’ve had a record summer, can’t turn it down, oh
Now I don’t wanna see the envy again[Pre-Chorus]
Smoke and sunset, off Mulholland
He was talking, I was wondering ’bout
You and that girl, she your girlfriend?
Face from heaven, bet the world she don’t know
Pretty girls don’t know the things that I know
Walk my way, I’ll share the things that you want[Chorus]
Uh-oh, dancin’ past the point of no return
Let go, we can free ourselves of all we’ve learned
I love this secret language that we’re speaking
Say it to me, let’s embrace the point of no return
Let’s embrace the point of no return
Let’s embrace the point of no return
Let’s embrace the point of no return
Let’s embrace the point of no return(Let’s embrace the point of no return)
(Let’s embrace the point of no return)
