Britney Spears’ “Circus” available on iTunes NOW!!
After the success of Britney’s last album and after the fail of what was her 2007 VMAs Britney wants us to know that she’s really back! With the release of Britney’s new album it marks her Danja-named “Queen of Pop” with songs that ooze the best of Britney. From the producers that brought “…Baby One More Time”, “Toxic” and “Gimme More” and Britney’s first #1 since …Baby One More time: “Womanizer”.
“Womanizer” is the track we all already know – there’s not much to say besides “Britney’s back bitches!” The track became a worldwide hit in many parts of the world. “Womanizer” was produced and co-written by Nikesha Briscoe and Rapheal Akinyemi of Atlanta-based production team, The Outsyders. “Womanizer” is Spears’s first number one single on the Hot 100 since her debut “…Baby One More Time”, almost 10 years prior. “You say I’m crazy? I got you crazy.”
“Circus” is the second single from the album, my personal favorite from the album. The song was written and produced by Dr. Luke and Benny Blanco. “I’m like the ringleader, I call the shots, I’m like a firecracker, I make it hot.” “Shattered Glass” is an uptempo dance pop song, “Was it really worth? Was she everything, that you were looking for – feel like me? Cause all we had was like shattered glass” Yet another Dr. Luke produced track “Lace and Leather” is another fan favorite which is an upbeat electronic sounding pop track.
“If U Seek Amy” is one of the best tracks on the album, agreed heavily by fans that this is probably the best song also. The Max Martin produced track, whom has produced Britney’s previous hits “…Baby One More Time” “(You Drive Me) Crazy” “Oops!… I Did It Again” “Lucky” “Stronger” “Overprotected” & “I’M Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman”
Britney Spears – If U Seek Amy
Fun fact: Ever wonder why it’s specifically “U” and not “You”? Listen to how Britney says “If U Seek Amy”: “All the boys and all the girls just begging to..”If = F, you= U, see= C, k A=K, my= ME” [F-U-C-K Me]. Besides the track heading to the radios and blowing up this could be one of her most memorable songs for the production value and insanely catchy hook.
The Danja produced track “Kill The Lights” calls Britney now “Queen of Pop”, the track can easily be compared with Piece of Me in the respect that it’s to the paparazzi. The track’s beat pushes on while she takes on the paparazzi “I think I’m ready for my closeup, Make sure you pick my good side”. Another Danja produced track “Blur” is a slower Piano ballad with some fantasy-like chords.
Bloodshy & Avant (Previously produced Britney hits like “Piece of Me” “Radar” “Do Somethin” “My Prerogative” “Me Against the Music” and “Toxic”) did four productions for Circus: “Unusual You“, “Phonography” (Australian bonus track), “Trouble” (iTunes bonus track) and re-release of the co-produced with The Clutch track Radar. Unusual You isn’t the typical Bloodshy & Avant track it’s a softer fanatasy-like dance track comparable to her In The Zone track “Breathe On Me”. “Phonography” is an upbeat dance track which is a personal favorite, oozes sex and has my favorite production on the entire album. “And I like my Bluetooth.. buttons coming loose..”
The album is wrapped up with the ballads “My Baby” which Britney has stated is a very personal song and “Out From Under” & “Quicksand“. “Quicksand” is an uptempo piano Ballad that was written by Lady Gaga. “You and me are sinking like Quicksand.” “Rock Boy” (German Bonus track) “Amnesia” & “Rock Me In” are both Pop/Rock songs which features a guitar to give it a bit more of an edge, but keeping Britney’s pop side.
Overall, BRITNEY IS BACK. She has a great selection of tracks many of which require a few spins until you’re enjoying it – but some are ear candy the first play. Some tracks that are very memorable are “If U Seek Amy”, “Phonography”, “Circus” & the obvious “Womanizer”.
Circus is in stores December 2nd (HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRITNEY!!) make sure you pick up your copy.
