“Lions, Tigers & Bears” is the third single released from American contemporary R&B/soul singer-songwriter Jazmine Sullivan‘s debut album, Fearless.
“Lions, Tigers and Bears” uses a sample from Salaam Remi’s “Sheila’s Playground”. It was written by Jazmine Sullivan and W. Mann. The song is a soulful melody about love and heartbreak using instrumentation of a violin. The protagonist states that she’s not scared of things most people fear, such as facing carnivorous animals, but she’s scared to love because of potential heartbreak.

Rock City (on Akon’s label Konvict) recently covered her latest single, “Lions, Tigers & Bears”.. which do you prefer a female’s perspective by Jazmine or a males’ version by Rock City?

ROCK CITY CAN BE LAME SOMETIMES…I LIKE SOME OF THEIR MUSIC, BUT WHEN THEY COVER OTHER PPL’S SONGS, (LIKE J. HOLIDAY’S “BED”), THEY MAKE THEMSELVES LOOK STUPID. “I CAME FROM THE JUNGLE TOO???” WHATTTT?????????????
When they said jungle, they meant they came from the housing projects in st. thomas. “st.thomas is a serious place, think twice before you come down there”
