“You & I” is a song written by Julian Bunetta, John Ryan and Jamie Scott. The song was originally recorded by English-Irish boy band One Direction for their third studio album Midnight Memories (2013). The song appears as the fifth track on the album.
The music video was shot on Clevedon Pier and directed by long time collaborator Ben Winston and was released on April 18th 2014.
The video shows Niall walking down stairs and down a pier, who turns into Liam, who then turns into Harry, then Zayn, then Louis then back to Harry. We then see clones of Harry, Niall, Liam, Zayn and Louis appear, and then the clones join up and make one Harry, Niall, Liam, Zayn and Louis. The video was not actually recorded in one shot, but rather it was stitched to become one shot.
A Radio edit of the track, along with three other versions and a video message from One Direction will appear on the “You & I” single, which will be released by Syco Music in the UK on 25 May 2014.
The track was sent to U.S. contemporary hit radio on 15 April 2014 by Columbia Records.
